Dear Parents:
Welcome Back! I look forward to working with you and your child in what will be a very successful and exciting school year at Goshen High School.
In order to achieve that success, it is important that we develop a positive working relationship and maintain open lines of communication. Please refer to the school web site often (http://www.goshenhs.com/) for updated classroom information and please do not hesitate to contact me if you should have any questions (bdesandro@pikecountyschools.com).
For those of you who do not know me, this is my 10th year teaching in Pike County. I spent 2 years teaching Indian Education/Computer Lab as an Aide at New Brockton Elementary School in Coffee County. For the 7 years I taught an Indian Education Teacher for Goshen Elementary School, Banks Primary, and Banks Middle School. I am truly excited to work with former and new students!
I have lived south of Troy since August 1993. Although I am a native of Mississippi and my husband of Louisiana, our children were born in Enterprise and have grown up in the Zion Chapel community. My interest in History came as a young adult. I have a love for genealogy and researching family history and stories. I have been involved in many community organizations. My interests include traveling, cooking, sewing, gardening and spending time with my family. My eldest daughter, Ashleigh is currently a student at Troy University. My son, Mikey, is a student of Auburn University in Montgomery. My youngest, Amber is a Senior at GHS and a Freshman at Troy University.
Educationally, I have a M.S. degrees in Liberal Arts in History and in Secondary Education from Auburn University in Montgomery and a B.S. degree in History from Troy University. I will also complete an additional course to fulfill the requirements as a professor. I am a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Charter for teachers.
As you can see, I bring a variety of experiences to the classroom and I make every attempt to help your child experience success. I am a strong believer in hands-on activities and trips to allow every student the opportunity to succeed. Again, I look forward to working with you and your child. I hope to see you at school!
Sincerely,
Mrs. DeSandro
